Anglers Finally Get Political Recognition! |
|
May 13, 2004 saw the first Victorian meeting of the Fishing Party. Federal Chairman Robert Smith addressed the meeting, as did Queensland Branch Chairman Kevin Collins.
The meeting brought together 40+ Anglers who voted for the Victorian positions of:
Chairman. John Willis
Treasurer: Andy Moore
Secretary: Angelo Koucoulis
Many people expressed excellent suggestions and ideas on how they would like to see the party represent their sport. Positions yet to be filled are for these committees:
Freshwater
Saltwater
Environmental
Legislative
Public Affairs
If you feel you could contribute to any of these committees, please send an email to Angelo Koucoulis: |

This means that signs like this wont have to be seen here in Victoria. This means that for the first time in history, the more than 5+ million anglers in Australia will have an opportunity to unite and have their voices heard! Victorian anglers have been angered and left feeling disenfranchised. This means that no longer will illogical legislation or half-baked initiatives to solve environmental issues go unchecked in parliament!
This means that your vote will have greater power to see that the best interests of the fishing community are upheld! |
POLICIES
The only policy adopted at this time By TFPVic is:
We oppose any, and all-unsustainable fishing practices.
Further policies will be adopted as soon as there are enough individuals to participate in the committees to form policies for adoption by voting members.
Special points of interest:
A goal of the Fishing Party is to have a candidate(s) run for a Senate seat in the 2004 Federal election. While the Victorian Branch is short of the 500 registered members to qualify for the upcoming State election, we are more than confident to achieve that goal well before the next state election. |
Qs & As
How do I join?
Visit the website, download the two membership forms, and mail them along with your cheque or money order to the TFPVic. Branch address. Alternatively, you can email of the officers and have the forms mailed or emailed to you.
Do I have to be a member to participate on a committee?
No. In fact, many people find it hard to spare any more free time and merely wish to send in their input on various issues.
How is TFPVic. different from other bodies out there?
Unlike other bodies who have no parliamentary representative. TFPVic. Will ensure that parliamentary representation for the fishing community is met. And, that legislation which affects the fishing community is scrutinized to ensure the fairest and most equitable outcome for all concerned. |
